Fully Automatic Packaging Line for Rod Products
A fully automatic packaging line for rod-shaped products, covering feeding, counting, packaging and inspection in one line.
Solution Overview
From individual products to full-carton shipment, the entire packaging flow needs no step-by-step manual operation
The fully automatic vape pen packaging production line is a packaging line that is fully automated from product loading through final case packing and shipment, efficiently completing the whole packaging flow from a single product to full-case shipment. The line comes in two efficiency specifications, the VP line and the VC line: VP line UPH 600 (600 finished products packed per hour), VC line UPH 1200 (1200 finished products packed per hour), with a shared-line layout supported to save floor space. Equipment yield ≥97%, operating rate ≥95%, suitable for long-duration production in the factory.
The full line covers ten work areas: product loading and transfer, product laser marking and programming, small white box forming, internal accessory assembly and product boxing, labeling and placing the instruction manual white card, small white box lid closing, sleeve fitting and inspection, tamper-evident label application and stacking, large white box packaging, large white box labeling, and full carton packing.
Process steps are linked by a conveyor line and fixtures. Products are loaded from Tray trays onto the line and in sequence complete laser marking and programming, boxing, assembly, labeling, inspection, capping, stacking, packing into large white boxes, and full-carton sealing; once finished products exit, they can be shipped directly.

process Workflow
Ten work zones from A to J take loose products step by step to full-carton shipment
- 01 Zone A: product loading and transfer
- 02 Zone B laser marking + firmware flashing
- 03 Zone C: Small White Box Forming
- 04 Zone D: accessory assembly + product boxing
- 05 Zone E: labeling + placing the instruction manual / white card
- 06 Zone F: capping + sleeve application + inspection
- 07 Zone G: tamper-evident label application + stacking
- 08 Zone H: Large White Box Packaging
- 09 Zone I: Large White Box Labeling
- 10 Zone J: full-carton packing
Critical Stages
Laser marking and programming at one end and full-carton packaging at the other are the stages where automation increases most noticeably
Laser Marking and Programming (Zone B)
After products are fed into Zone B by the conveyor line, dual laser heads perform automatic laser marking and two stations perform automatic programming; when finished, they are transferred automatically to the next station, with no manual loading, unloading or alignment.
- Dual laser heads for automatic laser marking
- Dual-station automatic programming
- Automatically transferred to the next station when done
- Cycle time synchronization with adjacent zones
Boxing and Assembly (Zones C / D)
Zone C automatically opens the small white box and forms the hooked bottom, then feeds it into the production line fixture; Zone D automatically loads the black tray and assembles it with the USB as one unit, puts the assembled accessory together with the product into the small white box, and the black tray is automatically bent and fixed.
- Automatic opening of small white boxes → hook-bottom forming
- Automatic black tray feeding + USB assembled as one unit
- Accessories + product loaded together into the small white box
- Black tray auto bending and securing
Full-Carton Packaging (Zone J)
Automatically opens the carton and places the base pad; 16 large white boxes are automatically loaded into the carton followed by a divider, IATA labels and carton labels are applied, and after weighing the carton is automatically sealed, so finished products can go straight to shipment as they come off the line.
- Automatic carton opening → pad placement
- 16 large white boxes automatically cased → divider inserted
- Applying IATA Labels and Carton Labels
- Weighing → automatic carton sealing → finished product outfeed
Work Area and Process Steps
The actions performed by each of the ten work zones A to J (compiled from the original solution documents)
| Work Area | Process Step Name | Main Actions |
|---|---|---|
| Zone A | Product loading and transfer | An operator places the tray full of products onto the feeder; the manipulator automatically takes the products and places them onto the transfer fixture, sending them into the line |
| Zone B | Product Laser Marking + Programming | Dual laser heads for automatic laser marking; dual stations for automatic programming; transferred to the next station when complete |
| Zone C | Small White Box Forming | Automatically Open Small White Boxes -> Bottom Hook Forming -> Transfer to the Line Fixture |
| Zone D | Internal accessory assembly + product boxing | Automatic loading of the black tray, assembled with the USB into one unit; accessories packed into the small white box together with the product; the black tray is automatically folded and secured |
| Zone E | Labeling + placing the instruction manual / white card | Automatically print and apply small white box labels; QC inspection; automatically place the instruction manual and white card into the small white box |
| Zone F | Capping + sleeve application + inspection | Automatic folding and sealing of the small white box top; white protective sleeve applied; automatic weighing, code scanning and OBA inspection |
| Zone G | Tamper-Evident Labeling + Stacking | Tamper-evident labels applied; 5 small white boxes automatically stacked into one group |
| Zone H | Large White Box Packaging | Automatically open the large white box → place the 5 stacked small white boxes inside → scan the code → the large white box is automatically top-folded and sealed |
| Zone I | Large White Box Labeling | Automatic flip of large white boxes -> printing and labeling |
| Zone J | Full Carton Packaging | Automatic carton opening → place the pad; 16 large white boxes automatically loaded into the carton → place the divider; apply the IATA label and carton label → weighing → automatic sealing |

Common Question
Common questions about the fully automatic packaging line for vape rod products
Which process steps does this line cover?
Full automation from product loading to final boxing and shipping: Product loading → laser marking and programming → small box assembly → labeling → large box packaging → carton sealing and shipment, subdivided into ten work zones, A to J.
What is the throughput difference between the two line types?
VP line: UPH 600, i.e. 600 finished products packaged per hour; VC line: UPH 1200, that is, 1200 finished products packaged per hour. The two lines support a shared-line layout, which saves floor space.
What are the stability figures?
The figures given in the proposal are equipment Yield ≥97%, Availability ≥95%, suitable for long production runs in the factory. These data are based on the project solution; actual production line metrics must be verified and confirmed during trial production.
At which stages is in-process inspection placed?
Zone E has QC inspection; zone F performs automatic weighing, code scanning and OBA inspection after capping and sleeve fitting; zone G applies tamper-evident labels; zone J applies IATA labels and carton labels and weighs after packing.
What are the packing specifications?
the G zone 5 small white boxes Automatically stacked into a group; zone H places the 5 stacked small white boxes into a large white box; zone J 16 large white boxes Automatically packed into one carton, with a divider inserted and the carton sealed.
Is manual loading required?
Zone A requires manual labor to place the Tray filled with products onto the feeder; after that the manipulator automatically picks the products, places them on the transfer fixture and feeds them into the assembly line, and the remaining zones are fully automatic.
